jesus though like throughout the whole episode, every single time merlin used magic in front of arthur openly, you could visibly see arthur not only putting everything together - years and years of coincidental things that didn’t quite add up and things he could never fully account for - but also realizing just how fucking powerful merlin is. that yes, he’s a king, but he’s had the most powerful sorcerer that has ever lived cleaning his boots and washing his sweaty, dirty clothes.

and you could actually see how humbled arthur was by the very end of it. that this powerful sorcerer is also his stupid manservant and merlin could have done anything he wanted at any time, but he chose to stay by arthur and protect him for so many years and arthur is so incredibly thankful for that.
